The Qatar Philharmonic

We are proud to be a part of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra team, and on Saturday morning we were impressed to hear the feature programme by BBC Radio 4 in the  programme titled, ‘The Qatar Philharmonic’.

BBC Radio’s reporter Razia Iqbal, ‘tells the story of the first western symphony orchestra in the Gulf.’ The Qatar Philarhomic Orchestra is an exciting new addition to the Middle East as the small State’s flagship orchestra and the leading professional ensemble for the region. From Bach to The Beatles, the QPO’s artistic profile encompasses not only the masterworks of the classical repertoire, but also innovative cross-artform projects as it seeks to build bridges between the Arabian-European musical traditions. This unique blend of genres is included in over 60 symphonic, operatic and collaborative concerts each season.

The programme accounts the diverse journey’s made by the Orchestra’s musicians as they migrate to the flourishing State of Qatar. Listen to the full programme here on BBC Radio 4.
